re: AA and L box. I can only confirm that my 2002 has the AA box. Hope it helps.

I have a 2001 (.5) TIP with AA box firmware but physically it is an L box, I know the original owner and he never did anything to it so the Audi dealership at some point decided to flash it to AA or it came from the factory that way - TWiST
